It's shaping up to be another busy weekend in Belmont Bay the premier waterfront community in Prince William County VA.
Saturday May 14, 2011 is the annual blessing of the fleet, the official start of boating season on the Occoquan River. Starting at 11 AM a parade of boats led by First Responders from the Fairfax and Prince William County as well as the Coast Guard and law enforcement will head out to the Belmont Bay Marina. The blessing boat will be moored at the Belmont Bay Marina and as each boat passes they will be blessed with the prayer:
"Dear God, we commend to your gracious care the vessel known as ___________. May your blessing be on this good craft and all who sail in her. Bear her on with favorable winds and deliver her from harm upon the waters. Amen"
Going on before the Blessing of the Fleet is the annual community yard sale at the Marina Parking Lot. Starting at 9 AM Belmont Bay residents will have their unwanted treasures waiting for you to find a bargain. Make sure you come early to find the best deals.
