HubSpot posted a great article on personalization's effect on marketing. I think the article is a must-read for all of us who take marketing seriously. Among the many points made, here are a just a few I appreciate:
#8. "The future is in making websites, products, or experiences personal in a deeply meaningful way."
How many of us have bland, non-interactive real estate sites that offer nothing more than a glorified brochure to the visitor.
#50. "One-to-one marketing is all about personalization; less mass communication and more mass customization."
Broadcast emails simply do not work. Especially the ones I receive on a fairly regular basis form other agents in our MLS who think they need to market their listing to other agents via broadcast email. Sadly, many of these agents I have spam rules in place for.
