IS THERE A TREASURE THERE ?  I AM ON THE HOOK ~  CLEANING, CLEARING ~ GARAGE SALE SEASON

Garage Sale

Okay, here we go again, our yearly garage sale, for our own household, next weekend.  Not my favorite thing to do...I don't like going through the boxes I put all of those saved items in.  You know the ones I might just need sometime..but I don't really know when that sometime is.

I have plenty, and I do mean plenty of dish sets, glass wear, platters, serving dishes for all of the dinner parties I have not been having.

Lots of what most people call knick-nacks, figurines, vases, and cooking dishes I don't really use anymore and have at least two or three of.  These are things I have been having a difficult time giving up over the years.  Do I need them?  Have they been used or even seen the last few years? Well....the answer is NO.  What am I hanging onto these things for??

balloonsEven odd pieces of furniture that seem to be crowding my home.  Things no longer needed and someone will surely want.  You know the Old Saying of

ONE PERSON'S CASTOFFS IS ANOTHER PERSON'S TREASURE (I just can't call anything I am giving up junk)

So..IS THERE A TREASURE THERE?  I HOPE SO FOR SOMEONE LOOKING FOR EXACTLY WHAT I AM SELLING AT A GARAGE SALE.

Hi Silvia, I have started and find myself saying, oh...maybe I shouldn't...but I am proud of myself because I am putting it all in the GS box.  Thanks for commenting.

Mary, good for you! The older I get the less stuff I want around me. I just don't think I have anything worthwhile to sell, LOL. Nor the energy leftover to do a tag sale...

Oh Mary, I don't envy you.  So much work.  However, keep this in mind you might just pick up a new client or two.  Great way to meet people.  Have fun!

Hi Andrea, I am with you..I have been cleaning out the last few years and it seems even though when I do and all is said and done, I still have a house full.  How does that happen.  This year I am really letting go of a lot of things, my kids do not need any more "stuff", I have already "stuffed" them, and neither do I.  Less is more has been my attitude the last two years anyway and it does take a lot of energy to do garage sales or just to open the closets and see all of this "stuff".  I find my life goes better when there is less clutter in my closets or elsewhere, kind of like making sure my bed is made every morning.  My day goes really well when it is and does not go so well when it is not for that day.  Thanks for commenting.

You know Mary, it can be a great way to meet clients, and I have actually.  You just never know.  I always have my cards in at least one pocket of whatever I am wearing, like I said you never know.  Thanks for commenting.

Hi Mary, I'm with Melinda, I like going to them..but hate holding them.. They are a lot more work than they look. The good thing is that once you make up your mind to do this, you will feel much "lighter' when it's gone. I usually end up just taking whats not sold to the good will since it's already out. Good luck and good weather!

Hi Melinda, I like to go as well and do not like having them.  It is a good way to reduce some of the things that have been hiding in the closets though.

Hi Barbara Jo, I do have lots of things, don't know if anyone will want it, but I guess next Friday and Saturday will tell the tale.  The background are flowers from my garden in our back yard taken last year.  These particular lillies are growing tall now and will be blooming again soon.  The fragrance is delightful.

Good Morning Cindy, I am agreement with both of you.  I don't like doing it a whole lot, but sometimes a necessary evil if you will.  You are right I will feel lighter if I can force myself to let go of some of the things. It is only things that I haven't looked at in a while, a long while.  We do take the leftovers either to good will or if larger furniture type call Volunteers of America and they come and pick it up and make sure it is donated to needy families.  Have a good weekend.
