My Top 10 Favorite Movies: "Feel Good" MoviesThe Notebook

I like a variety of movies: comedies, dramas, horror, disasters and of course, "feel good".  What's a "feel good" movie? I'm not sure there's a REAL definition for it.  I couldn't find anything on Wikipedia.  I would simply say that it's a movie that you watch and at the end, you feel good about yourself, the person you may be sitting next too, your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and the world in general.  Would you agree?  You would?  That makes me "feel good" too!  :-)

Last week, when I recognized Memorable Movie Characters, I picked some pretty scary roles.  This week I thought it might be a good idea to lighten it up a little bit.  The Notebook stars Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands and James Garner.  It's a wonderful love story told in an unusual way.  If you have not watched it, I would say it's worth adding to your Summer Movie List.

My Top 10 Favorite Movies: "Feel Good" Movies

1. The Notebook (2004)
2. Big (1988)
3. The Blind Side (2009)
4. Princess Bride (1987)
5. Calendar Girls (2003)
6. Jerry Maguire (1996)
7. Forrest Gump (1994)
8. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
9. My Girl (1991)
10. The Truman Show (1998)

Think about the movies that make you "Feel Good".  Which ones come to mind? Add your comments below and join the conversation!

I like you choices Donna. I liked Big, Jerry Maguire and Forrest Gump. One other movie I would have to add to the list is Shallow Hal. It was better than it needed to be.

Okay, need to find the Notebook - I've never seen it.  My feel good movie has always been McClintock and my husband's has always been Home Alone - he'll watch it any time of year, LOL.

Hello Trang~ Beaches is a good choice!

Hi Jeffrey~ Hmmm, I'd have to give Shallow Hal a maybe vote.

Jacque & Larry~ Thanks for sharing your lists.  Looks like I've got more movies to add to my list of "need to see" movies.

Thanks Debbie! We rented Hereafter with Matt Damon for tonight.  It might be one for this list too!

Hey Bliz~ Feel Good movies tend to make me cry at some point.  I think that's part of the "feel good-ness" quality!  The Notebook and Shawshank both had that affect.

Several that I have not seen Mona!

Definitely watch The Notebook Juli.  You won't be disappointed!

Donna, I have seen six out of your list of ten. I wasn't prepared to make my own top ten list, but the first movie that came to mind for me was Remember the Titans.

I'm not a big movie watcher, but I'll add "Miracle" to the list (the story of the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team).

Hey Carla~ Of the 3 that your mentioned, I've only seen Mary Poppins and I would say that it would be a good addition to the list.

Hi Diane~ I couldn't come up with a list of just 10 movies that I like either.  That's why I came up with a category, "feel good" movies!

Just 2 more Fridays in May, Mary.  Then I'm going to take the summer off from my movie posts.  I'll be back at it in the fall.

Hello John~ I have not seen "Miracle" but based on the storyline, sounds perfect for this list!

Good.  I am glad that you aren't stopping all together.  I love your suggestions.  You are right.  Most of us have other things to do during the summer months.  Start again in fall.  See ya later.
