How Stupid Can a Person Be???

Hot temperature is coming up, it is time to remember to keep our pets cool and make sure they have enough water at any given time.  If you feel hot, so does your pet.

Please read this blog from Pat Haddad and the comments from other members, it just breaks your heart to know how some owners can be that thoughtless of taking care of their pets.

How Stupid Can a Person Be???

Your dog does not want a sun tan!  Your dog does not enjoy running on hot pavement when it is 75, 85 or 95 degrees outside.  Your dog does not sweat and has no way to cool down its body temperature. Golden Retriever

Instead of helping your dog stay in shape, you are literally risking your dog’s life.  There should be laws against this.  Police should patrol and ticket anyone abusing an animal in this cruel manner.

It got up to 92 today in central Indiana and the idiots were out in full force.  Their loyal, faithful, do-anything-to-please-my-owner, good dogs were doing their best to keep up but falling behind.  I saw so many breeds being abused and tortured…beagles, labs, and the worst was a long coated Sheltie.  Try jogging in your winter coat the next day it is 92 outside.  Try it barefoot on the hot pavement.  Tell me how much you enjoy it and how healthy you feel afterwards.

I am thinking about having my car painted with something like, ‘Love your dog?  Let him stay home when it is hot.  JOG BY YOURSELF!!’

I have a friend who lost a beautiful golden retriever in this exact manner.  This is not the first time I have blogged about this and it won’t be the last.

Rita - I read this on Pat's blog and we also have to protect our dogs in the winter and dress them warm and protect their paws from ice. This is the photo on my post today (George likes to go cross country skiing with his master so he designed him a suite to protect him from the snow and ice!)

Let's be honest here....dogs need exercise, but humans need common sense.....this action doesn't make any sense.  Good post!

Kristine, all pets need to be well taken care of, and that should be the general rule.  Don't understand why some people want to have pets and won't take good care of them.

I see this all the time too.  People thinking they're being kind when they're actually abusing their dogs in the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter.  Thanks for the heads up!

Good morning, Rita....dogs like to be comfortable year round, just like humans.....English bulldogs will die if they're not kept cool....they can't stay in the sun.

Rita, Unfortunately their is no limit to how far people can go in NOT using their gray matter.  It's the same folks that leave their dogs locked up in the car thinking it's a cool day outside, but the car turns into an oven in no time.

Susan, we all love to play and do activities with our pets, but some people need to pay extra attention what not to do under the hot sun for too long.  It is dangerous for both human and pets anyway.

Bliz, temperature can rise up 8-10 degrees higher in a locked car, people need to pay attention to things like that.  If they can't take their dog inside the place they are going, just leave them at home.  They will be okay.

Mike, that will be great.  More people need to know more what not to do with their dogs under the hot sun.
