Nationwide Open House Event - Time to Start your Promotion Parade

By
Title Insurance with AmeriTitle

There is a Nationwide Open House event on June 4th and June 5th 2011.  This is right around the corner and now is the time to start promoting so you have a successful event.

A well promoted open house can result in a SALE, meeting new people, and excellent promotion of your listing.  With a little planning, promotion and work you can have success!

If you were having an open house at your home you wouldn't put a 2"x2" ad in the paper, put a sign out in the front yard and hope people come.  Treat your open house as you would a party at your home.  Have some fun, get creative, and most important - spread the word to everybody.

NAR is adding some kick to the promotion of open houses for this Nationwide Open House event.   The excitement over this has now spread to 89 other countries so it's not only nationwide - it has gone global!  If you only have one open house all year - this is the week-end to do it.

Here are some ideas on how you can spread the word for a successful open house...

Open House Check List

I am a big fan of checklists for events.  They help you stay on task with preparation and promotion and ensure no detail will be left out.  Use this checklist as a base and add your expertise and knowledge to it to make it your own.  Contact me if you would like to receive an editable Word document.

Postcards & Prospecting Lists

I'm not always a fan of postcards for marketing in today's world but there are times when they are appropriate and an open house is one of those times.  My favorite postcard websites are ExpressCopy and MyNeighborhoodAgent

They have open house invite templates all laid out and ready for you to customize.  Both are inexpensive, easy to use, high quality, and have great customer service.

Contact your favorite title company for a targeted prospecting list.  You can also check out DataLeader to put a list together in a tight radius around your listing.

Be sure to send this snazzy invite to your sphere list.  These are your warmest leads and you want them to come to the event.  If you have your list in Excel you can merge it with the targeted prospecting list and sha-bang you're out the door with a professional, eye catching invite.

Promote on the Top Three Ranked "Rooms" on the Web

Google - FaceBook - YouTube

YouTube has an enormous amount of web traffic and it's a great place to promote your open house event.

Check out this creative open house invite that received 1,466 views.  I attended this open house and it was packed.

Sturgeon Group Open Video

If you don't feel comfortable with this style or the thought of creating a video gives you hives - here is a simple, professional way to create a video out of property photos...

YouTube has a built in video maker program called Stupeflix.

Add pictures, music, text slides, and a map to the open house.  The program turns it into a movie for you and the very best part ~ it gets ranked on Google the same day.  If somebody Googles "Open House Silverton, OR" a link to your YouTube video is going to show up on page one.  (Be sure to use those key words in the title to your video...)  This is one of the most powerful, Google ranking tools and it is FREE.

Check out this step by step guide from Borino on how to use Stupeflix for your next open house.

On to the number two ranked room on the web, FaceBookCreate an event and invite your FaceBook sphere.  I'm going to 3 open houses today.  How did I find out about them? I received an event invite on FaceBook.  I even have a reminder on my FaceBook today so I won't forget to go.

On the day of the event, write a more personal or conversational note on your FaceBook wall.  Mention where you'll be or talk about preparing for the open house - maybe the kind of cookies you have baking or how great they smell... invite people to join you.

Rosi, I hadn't heard anything about this. Could be a great event Nationwide!

Hi Connie!  I'm excited about the prospects of a "unified approach."  The more open houses there are to see during that week-end, the better buyer traffic we'll see.  There was some great activity on the houses I toured today.  One agent had already had 26 people through and he had only been open an hour.  All my best to you and thanks for the comment. ~
