It was late, I was tired and at the stroke of midnight, my proverbial “carriage” was about to turn into a pumpkin right before my eyes. My carriage? The 31 Days of May Challenge. It was Day 14 and up until then I had been able to keep up with daily blogging. But after a long day my brain was just not in the game.
Knowing I needed to post something, I ran with an idea I had earlier in the day and just typed. I proof-read it, added some pictures, hit POST and shut down my computer.
Imagine my surprise when I logged in this morning to see that the post The Forecast Said Rain..... had not only been featured in two of the groups to which we belong, BananaTude and The Art of Marketing You, but had also been re-blogged by Toni Weidman from New Port Richey, FL.
REALLY???? Honestly, I have written other posts which I thought were deserving of an “above the fold” placement in the New York Times that barely garnered any attention at all. It just goes to show that you can’t predict what is going to strike different individuals as newsworthy on any given day. What is prime material today might hit the cutting room floor tomorrow.
My takeaway from this? Don’t be so set on perfection that you fail to begin. Don’t stress so much about making every article “feature worthy” that you fail to write at all. Just write what’s in your heart and head and let the chips fall where they may.
And a big THANK YOU to all those who took the time to read, comment, feature and suggest yesterdays blog post. It was a true learning experience for me.
