Monday Musings: Surround Yourself With Hope Not Doubt!
I saw this quote and I thought about all the help the people here in Active Rain have been to me since I joined in February.
Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.

I am surrounding myself with great people who; encourage, mentor and make me laugh outright! If that is not surrounding myself with Hope, nothing is!
An acting coach one said: There are no small parts, only small actors.
You can understand that one because of your theater background, but I sure think it applies in much of life.
Gaylefriend, *snap* it is so true! I know many actors who won't do a part because of the number of lines is small. Whatever! Go and have fun!
Peg, I try to stay clear from negative - whiny people. If Will is in a bad mood, I tell him to go home and come back another day. Luckily he is almost always upbeat and positive which helps me through the day. You need the positive energy of others to keep your mental attitude in check.
Amen, sister! One of the most freeing things that I learned last year when I turned 57 (pretty old to be learning this lesson) is that you don't have to keep the people in your life that bring you down. I started shutting the door on phone calls and emails and coffees with them, and things improved dramatically. I had to estrange myself from my family because they were being too negative and I really do need positive people in my life, family notwithstanding. As Louise Haye says in one of her books (loosely quoted): “You did not have a choice about which family you were born into, but you have a choice who is in YOUR family.”

Peg - I'm a huge Mark Twain fan and love this quote. Negative people bring you down - positive people build you up! I apply this philosophy to my AR relationship just like in life -stick with the positive people! Your post put a smile on my face, so thank you!

Wonderful quote, Peg. I feel sorry for the pessimists but don't want to be around them. AR is wonderful community and people are open and friendly.
