Celebrate National Trails Day- Beach Fest @ Carlsbad, California
On the first Saturday in June
(June 4, 2011) the City of Carlsbad trail volunteers and
the Agua
Hedionda Lagoon Foundation
will partner to sponsor a cleanup of invasive plants along the trail at
the north shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon located between Carlsbad
Blvd. and the coastal rail line. (Work will not occur in or near the
railroad right of way).
Participants
should wear a hat, sunscreen, long pants and hiking shoes. Tools and
supplies will be provided along with water, granola bars and fresh
fruit.
Note
volunteers under age 18 must have a volunteer waiver signed by parent
to participate. Waiver forms will be available the day of the event.
The fourth annual Carlsbad Beach Fest is also on this date, along
Frazee State Beach @ Pine Avenue to Tamarack State Beach, form 8AM, to
3PM,. This free event is open to the public and includes: beach and
under water cleanup, sports clinic's, contests, an Archisand sand
sculpture, education booths, live entertainment, and food courts.
Directions:
Take I-5 to Tamarack Ave.
Continue west on Tamarack Ave to Garfield Street. Turn left at Garfield
Street. Continue towards end of Garfield Street. Parking is available
along the street. Walk down the dirt access road to the trail and check
in at volunteer table on the trail.
