8:45AM – Contemplated for about 15 minutes what I was about to do. And basically it was not about what I was going to do with my life or anything like that. It was simply, what was I going to do today? I foresaw in my future a ton of admin paperwork and organization that I was about to perform throughout the day. I will not bore you with the details but let’s just say the word, Miserable.
I went to Google,Yahoo!, and Bing, who are becoming my best friends these days. This obsession with search engine optimization is taking its toll. Are they messing with me? What is the formula? I blog and distribute the massive quantities of content and prose and it seems to be having an effect. In fact, Dan and Scot, Karen, Sonja and I were flabbergasted and impressed with the fact that Home Bargain Planet Daily had moved up to the first page on most search engine searches in the Casa Grande sector. Well that was Thursday when the Techno Nerds (Dan and Scot, Karen, Sonja, and Marc Montgomery) realized this most awesome effect, and yours truly was sitting in the golden chair of internet ego inflation. But then, when I went to go check again this morning, the stats, the position, the ranking on google, yahoo, and Bing, Home Bargain Planet was nowhere to be found. I was devastated.
I whined to Sonja and Dan and Carey throughout the day. Why!? Why has Google forsaken me? What crime have I committed? The wounded fake champion blogger had succumbed to the dreaded misery of being ignored by his best friends, Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Carey just rolled her eyes. And Dan and Sonja did their best to console me, to press me to fight on, to not give up, and to continue to seek ways to reach the masses.
But the quest for the answers never seems to get fulfilled. I hear them and I nod and I think that sounds good. I searched for answers through Googling: Why did my ranking go down? And then, what I gathered is that the most important thing is Content, Content, Content. Yes we can have fancy pictures and links to this website and that, and that is useful, but if there is no substance to the content, then the ranking goes nowhere. I realized I am new to this and that making the first page rankings so early in the game is a good thing, but I need more consistent longevity, rowing the oars of this blogging canoe one stroke at a time, and that eventually, pages upon pages of good ever evolving content will solidify my place in the high rankings. I have been doing this for only 5 months. Carry on, carry on!
It is all about quality with quantity. Not one is better than the other while both need each other. Quality writing is hard to find. Is this easy? Can people who don’t thirst to write, to express with the pen, do that for a long a period of time, for years? No. But I think I can. I love it, and have a passion for it. So let’s have fun and watch and please, you, anyone, give me your thoughts and help me to be the best I can be in imparting the prose.
