Even though the Interchange isn’t expected to be open for traffic until the end of the month, the official dedication is today.
The City of Meridian hosted the event. This is a huge benefit to the city of Meridian and eastern Nampa residents! Meridian’s Mayor Tammy de Weerd, has been working toward this project for many years. Also, in attendance should be Idaho Lieutenant Governor Brad Little and Idaho State Senator John McGee.
This should take a lot of traffic off downtown Meridian since with the growth of that area we really needed a new interchange to service the people that lived between the Meridian Exit in Meridian and the Garrity Exit in Nampa (six miles).
Since we are used to measuring our commute in the Treasure Valley in minutes instead of miles, this will really help a lot of people. It will be interesting to see how it diminishes the backlog on the off ramp into downtown Meridian when it is fully opened. I bet it will even take some of the traffic off Ustick Road and Amity and the other back roads running east and west as people were trying to avoid the interstate during rush hour.
Since I am a real estate broker in the Boise area, I always cheer every time they improve our roadways since it saves me time but it also helps the community in which I live.
