Those are buyers just below the surface!
It's funny how we find analogies everywhere we look. I was Sun Perch fishing with my daughters and a friend of the family last night, much like we do every Tuesday night. The Claremore, OK, city lake is beautiful and a great place to hang with the family. We have adopted a certain fishing spot as our spot because we can park close and there is room for everyone to play with the Perch. Our 11yr old guest had not been fishing but a few times in her lifetime and seemed to be really enjoying herself. She was putting her worm just below the surface in fairly shallow water and watching the perch swim by, nibble or pull the bobber under and then swim away. She said, "it's a perfectly good worm, why don't they like it."....out of the mouths of babes.
One of the reasons I like to fish is so that I can stand by the water and not think. It's my sanctuary if you could consider it that. But when this pretty young lady made that statement I immediately thought of her parents' listing which I hold. It really is a "perfectly good worm", but I don't have a clue "why don't they like it" (pardon the poor grammar). Just like when fishing with the kids it could be any number of issues. Perhaps the hook is too large (price), or the worm to small (space), or even not presented correctly (staging, cleaning, etc.) I suppose it could be the most common scenario with my kids...the environment is too noisy (gloom and doom in the media, job loss, fear of the market).
My advice to our novice fishing friend...keep your hook in the water, the right fish will come. I do not maintain a large number of hooks in the water...I mean homes in my inventory. I do however keep them active, continually work on presentation, and keep trying to get my listing into the hands of the perfect buyer. If you are searching for the perfect home, NOW is the time. There are an abundance of homes in the Claremore, OK area that are move in ready in all listing price ranges. Buyers have more choices than ever before. If you believe that you cannot find that perfect worm, call me. I can help you search the entire MLS in the area, sort through those decorated lures and help you find the perfect match for your family. Why does the REALTOR make a difference? Because I am familiar with the market, can assist you in finding a lender and more importantly, because..."What Matters to YOU, Matters to ME!"
Jim - good analogy. Although I wouldn't suggest you refer to your Buyers that their fish.. lol Maybe you can say that their a prime species looking for the right attraction/enticement.

Hi Jim, You are a realtor after my own heart! I love to fish and make analogies of everything :) I also love your tagline, "What matters to you, matters to me." I know you are a great Realtor!
Jim, I couldn't agree more with the prior comments - great analogy and your tagline! It's off the hook!!! I know it sounds pretty lame that my comment is agreeing with the two comments above but reading your post BEFORE reading the comments was...great analogy and great tagline! See all great minds think alike.
Great comments!
Kenneth - Yes, I thought about that after I posted. Hopefully those reading will realize it is tongue-in-cheek! :)
Ricki - It may come from years in education or just way too many education/psych classes but I think there is something to learn in everything. Thanks for the compliment! :)
Gina - Thanks! :)
