Winning is a Habit. Unfortunately so is Losing.

I guess we can give Charlie Sheen some credit for revitalizing this "winning" thing, but the full credit for this famous quote goes to Vince Lombardi.  He was the master of motivating sports quotes.  To me, it is more than an overused quote from my high school sports coaches.  It has really become about organizing ourselves, so we can be successful.

To be a successful Tampa homebuilder, it comes down to the people, processes and tools.  I've introduced a few of our employees in past posts (Missi and Adam) and will highlight more in the future.  You can take this with a grain of salt (I am a bit biased), but we have the most dedicated, hard-working and bright people around.  They work great together and I'm lucky that that they put up with me.

Being a business consultant in a former life, I've seen and know that most builders fly by the seat of their pants on a daily basis.  Early on, we decided to manage our selection, purchasing, construction and other processes in a structured and organized way.  It has paid off by lowering our costs to our customers, decreasing the time it takes to build and increasing our customer satisfaction.

Lastly, and maybe most important are the tools we use.  We have many tools (after all, we're a builder), but the two that I believe benefit our customers the most are our showroom and our online service.  Not many custom builders in Tampa and St. Petersburg have a showroom, but we believe that it simplifies our customer's lives.  Making selections is challenging enough without having to run around town to various stores.  Our online services have allowed us to streamline our communication, selections and approvals with our customers.  It's also the place where we keep them up to date on their financials, milestones and organize photos and other files.

So thank you Vince Lombardi (and tip of the hat to Charlie Sheen).  When you emphasize "winning", it makes us work harder to be more successful.
