Thankful Thursday...Smile...

Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

I am sure that everyone has had one of those moments when someone will say something, or something happens, and the words of a song begin playing in your head.  It is almost as if your brain has become a jukebox, doing it's part to get you through the moment, make you smile, or what ever it is that you seem to need at the moment.  I had that experience as I was sitting here trying to decide whether to spend a few moments formulating this blog, or doing one of the other tasks that I have been working on.

One of my projects is that I downloaded all of my digital photographs on to my computer.  I downloaded the jump drive, and I must not have done it right, because I had duplicates and I had lost all of the folders.  The photos were still there, just all in one gigantic folder.  I had over 10,600 photos to go through.  I went through and eliminated the duplicates, now I have been using those few minutes that you get during the day to work them into folders and files.

Yesterday I put together some of my family photos.  I am an adult orphan, my parents have both passed on, as have many of my Aunts, Uncles and even some cousins.  I put those photos into a file, and while doing so, and even as I just thought about it, I could hear the line from the Bee Gees classic, words;

Smile that everlasting smile,

That will bring you near to me,

Don't let me ever find you gone,

That would bring a tear to me.

It just amazes me that our subconscious knows exactly how to interpet our thoughts and does what it does to make the situation better.  I am thankful for those memories, but more for the people that created those memories that have blessed my life!

You are so right - the people we love never leave us. They stay forever in our hearts. Your post reminded me of a poem saying just that:

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there,  I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there,  I did not die!

I’m not familiar with that Bee Gees song, but if it’s by the Bee Gees, I know that my other half has it in his gigantic music collection.

Jim, It is one of their really early hits, back before disco, when they were supposed to be the "Baby Beatles."
