With so many social media outlets and avenues today, real estate agents are bombarded with self proclaimed guru's ready to spread the gospel of social media and the amazing untold riches your participation will bring. Problem is, some of those plans are well thought out and for those of us who DO think through the ultimate destination before embarking on that trip, it could seem we are being rude when we don't accept your friend request. That's understandable, so I may owe you an explanation.
FaceBook allows you to "friend" me and depending on the level of permissions we give each other, that may open my friends, their pictures, their friends, or their entire private lives to your scrutiny. In fact, if things are left wide open, it could expose my friends to your game applications. I don't personally like all that exposure, but to each his own. FourSquare, however, is a different story. If I friend you in FS, you will see where I am whenever I check in. So that's where I draw the line. I may let you into my personal info for Facebook so you see where I like to write comments and take pictures, but if I don't know you REALLY WELL, I am not about to tell you what bars, restaurants, houses of worship, stores, or businesses I frequent. Quite frankly, it's just none of your business. So when you attempt to "friend" me on FourSquare, don't be offended that I delete the request. (And don't even get me started on the "handy" buttons they publish which allows FourSquare to go rooting around through my friends in FaceBook, Twitter, or LinkedIn and drag them along into my FS friend pile.)
Different groups for different services - think it through before you friend everyone you know in every service you subscribe to.
