Embracing Change in the Rain

Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty West Sound WA State 52404

"Change is the Essence of Life.

Be Willing to Surrender What You Are,

for What You Could Become."

If there's been one constant here on ActiveRain, it's been change. Ever since this platform was first created, things have been continually evolving, developing, changing.

I can remember in the early days when Matt Heaton would tweak or change some minor feature, everyone would raise a huge uproar of resistance. But eventually, things had a way of working out for the better.

Some changes are more difficult to accept than others, especially the ones that involve people and our sense of human connectedness.

After all, what has really made this community so incredibly special & valuable over the years isn't necessarily the great SEO capabilities. or the search ranking of our blog articles, or even the highly qualified leads that turn into closed transactions and money in the bank.

It's the wonderfully intimate, rich, and fulfilling relationships we have discovered and nutured in this virtual 'Cheers.' It's friendships we share with members all across the country - deep connections this platform has made possible with people who at times feel closer than actual family.

When I think of all the amazingly gifted and dedicated people who have contributed so much of their heart and soul to the success of this network, starting with the great visionaries/creators, Jon Washburn and Matt Heaton. Then there was Caleb Mardini, Ben 'The Code Monkey' Wiseley, Bob Stewart, Nicole Woods, Brad Andersohn, Jeremy Blanton, Jeff Corbett, Jorgen Hahn, and so many others. Whenever any of these people have left, a part of us has left with them.

However, we need to realize that the true success (and future success) of ActiveRain lies within the strength and resolve of its members. Your continued involvement and the quality content you publish to your blog will be what ensures the next chapter of the ActiveRain story is written, and that it builds upon the solid legacy left behind by those who blazed the trail.

We owe them that much.

Rich... I, for one, am looking forward to see what the future holds.  I'm excited to see how AR moves ahead during these changing times!

Rich, I admit I get real grumpy when AR makes a change. But, I have to trust that these changes aren't made to tick us all off.  Growth always means change, and when something stops growing, well, it stops being interesting. So, I'll bitch and moan (to myself, of course) but what I really want is for AR to continue, in any shape or form.

I am confident these changes are going to be good for ActiveRain.  I think ActiveRain is growing.  I remember thinking when Caleb left that ActiveRain would implode....

I have read Steve's change post, Lenn's change post, your change post... off to read Katerina's... I read Doug's post first, then Niki's when it went up...

Elaine:  Change is often times uncomfortable and disconcerting. Grumpy is a normal response. I am confident things will continue and only get better for all of us!

Michelle:  We should all stay the course and forge ahead, contributing content that engages and informs!

Bernadine:  Embrace Away!!!

Maureen:  Yeah, I remember thinking the same thing when Caleb left. Thanks for your optimism and encouragement!

Hi Rich - like Elaine, I get grumpy too - but it's mostly because I realize I'm a little behind the tech curve when it comes to online presence.  I have learned to trust AR, but to also pursue other avenues.  So it's all good.  Many thanks to Team AR for all you do!  Julie

Hi Rich... You have certainly hit the nail on the head with this post.

Thanks for the shout out.  I like and will gladly accept the title of "Change Agent".

BTW... You forgot to add your name to the list of people who have contributed their heart and soul to making AR what it is today.  You were the first AR staff person I had contact with as a member seeking help and our friendship will always be one of the greatest rewards of my involvement with AR.

Julia:  ActiveRain is one of many components to creating and maintaining a powerful online presence and dominating your corner of the Internet. The fact that you're a member of AR demonstrates that you're most definitely NOT behind the tech curve!

Steve: You illustrate my point perfectly. Without members like you, this platform would simply be a quick flash in the pan. It's people like you who will navigate AR into a brighter tomorrow!

Rich, I personally owe a lot to AR for the education and knowledge I've received over the past 3 years here in the Rain!  You are so right in that there are an incredible number of really gifted and dedicated folks that have added to this community over the years.  As the saying goes "It takes a village'... in this case a virtual one.

Glad you're still here with your vision and commitment!
