The "It Gets Better Project" was created to show young LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) people that that it (life) really does get better. It's especially difficult for the 9 out of 10 LGBT teens, who face bullying and daily tormenting in school, not to mention if their families are not accepting. There have been several recent cases in the news where individuals have taken their own life, because they didn't think it would get better.
This wonderful project currently has over 10,000 videos, many from celebrities and other well known people, including President Barack Obama. Every video has the potential to save a life, it could even be someone in your family. I have several LGBT in my family, including a sibling. I love my sister dearly and the world is definitely a better place with her in it.
My hope, in sharing this website, is that you will share it too. "Like" their Facebook page and share it with your friends, you might just save a life, it could even be someone you love.
I heard about this from a commercial. What a great project. I haven't had a chance to go look at it online, but now that you have reminded me about it I will definitely go take a look. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for the reblog and for including info about taking the pledge:
THE PLEDGE: Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I'll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I'll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and other bullied teens by letting them know that "It Gets Better."
Tracie - this is a great post and a great project. I'll go to Facebook and I'm also "suggesting" your post.
Thanks for the comments.
"C" - You know I do!! You really are making the world a better place.
Toni - I don't know if I've ever been suggested, I haven't been featured but this would certainly be the one I'd want to see featured.
David - At the rate new blogs are put up, I was afraid no one would find this and read it - so I'm glad you did. There's actually a featured post today about recycling blogs, putting them into draft and revamping them and reposting - I may do that sometime, but after the 31 Days of May challenge, I don't want to mess up getting credit for my daily blogs.
I took the Pledge a few weeks ago. Brava for bringing attention to it on active rain. Im going to re-blog this in my other groups.
