When you think of the word jack o'lantern what colour comes to mind? If you're thinking orange, you are correct. We've been living in our new house now for almost 4 months and I'm beginning to crave a little more colour on our white walls.
In the past, I'd say my colour scheme has always been quite conservative. I've always leaned towards neutrals with a touch of blue for bathrooms. In our new house we have a high wall in the stairwell leading to the second floor. There are two windows in this area so it is quite bright.
I had a painting hung on the wall and one of the colours in the painting was calling out to me. I grabbed my Benjamin Moore colour charts and tried to do a little colour matching. I ended up picking jack o'lantern 2156-30 and it is not for the faint of heart.
Here's how Benjamin Moore describes jack o'lantern:
"This color is part of Color Preview. A collection of bold, saturated colors that brings spaces to life for those looking to illuminate their world with pure, extraordinary color."
Well my hallway has certainly come to life. I only did the one focal wall as I didn't want to "illuminate my world" too much. I'm quite pleased with the results.
I have now brought bold into my house. There's nothing wrong with being bold - is there?
Before - White Walls
After - Jack o'lantern
