NAR to hike dues by $40

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Crossroads Real Estate LLC

The National Association of Realtors board of directors has approved a $40-a-year dues increase to boost political activities, despite polls showing members overwhelmingly opposed it, and warnings from local association executives that a dues increase would accelerate membership declines.

Why is it, whenever it comes to political matters, they always tell us they know what is better for us, if we agree or not.

I don't agree with the rate hike and everyone needs to let NAR know.

Wonder why? I think we are treated like school children 'who couldn't possibly know the ramifications'. Nonsense. I will deal with politics with my own wallet & my own preferences.  I don't think they work for us now, this just gives them more $ to do with what they wish.  No accountability for the money they are already getting too BTW.

More opinions than you want to hear about.

We wonder why government is often out of control.  Our own association is out of control.  The NAR exists as a professional organization, and, according to most polls, this professional organization has failed to raise the public's image of its members above that of a lawyer or car salesman.  Realtors deserve better, and we will continue to get less and lack of relevance if we don't demand better performance.

I don't agree with most of the issues they support.  It is either tax increases on homes over $750,000, or here is Wisconsin, the right to build over-sized piers in lakes.  I can't see why my money should go to support issues which only effect the very rich.  Let them use their own money.  It's always the average people that have to bend over.
