A Toad, A Pair of Pelicans, B2B, And Brunch With Randy Travis

Well, all true except they're not real. We had brunch at the local Cracker Barrel in Shiloh, Illinois, a good twelve minute drive from where we live in O'Fallon, Illinois.  As is always the case, we had to wait (today 15 minutes, somedays more) to get seated.  Anybody who's been to this chain knows that there's a gift shop to wander through - smart feature of their business model - so I did.  (Hubby always stands in the corner with his book, sometimes takes naps while standing. lol)

So I had the pleasure of meeting these creatures:

Toady

a well-dressed and -behaved toad on one aisle,

a pair of pelicans enjoying their private moment together,

Seagulls

two bees flitting from crate to crate buzzing about,

Beezy Beez

Sunny

and, hello! This little sunflower made me smile while waiting.

Just as our name was called, I bumped into this... none other than Mr. Randy Travis himself with his new album honoring the troops.  Great trouper, he is.

Momma's Breakfast

What more can I ask? Oh, and a sumptuous breakfast with wonderful company to boot!

Plus they always have a great clearance rack with goodies!  Hard to not leave without a pecan nut roll to enjoy later.  Your breakfast looks yummy.

Hi, Laura. You shouldn't have mentioned the pecan nut roll... now I have to pick one up next time. LOL I've bought some knick knacks for kitchen staging there. Yes, it was yummy--a perfect brunch! Thanks for dropping by!

Howdy and evening to you Yolanda

Yolanda, I sure do miss going to eat at Cracker Barrel, not only is the food mighty good. I use to always go to them back home. They sure always have mighty fine items in the gift shop for folks to buy.

I did find a Cracker Barrel in MA. and eat there once. But it sure was a total let down. When I got my breakfast, it did not have any Grits with it, so I ask about where my Grits were, the waitress looked at me like I was from some other planet and had know idea what Grits were.

By the way, I'm sure mighty proud of you and how will you are doing with the 31 Days of May Challenge!

Have a good one

I love that toad. Very artistic. I think your two seagulls are actually white pelicans. Their beaks are too long to be seagulls.

Hi, Dale! LOL You and and my husband love grits. I don't know if they do or not since I don't eat it, but I can see why it would be upsetting for you. If you visit us, we'd take you to the Scott Club for Sunday brunch, they serve grits there. lol

Hi, Eric! Thank you for the correction... goes to show that I'm not familiar with pelicans. LOL I will edit it, good catch, and thanks for the comment.

Hey there Yolanda

Yolanda,
the Cracker Barrel in MA. that I stop at was the very first and only one, that I was not able to get Grits at. Back home in Missouri, Grits always came automatically with the combo breakfast plate. That's what I would always order.

You sure mighty welcome! Giving encouragement is one of the things what one does for a friend. And you sure are a mighty good friend here in the AR community! We sure are just able to the end of this here Challenge of May.

Have a good one

Hi, Dale. I've tried grits before, but it's not a favorite. :) And you're one of my good friends here, too.  AR makes it possible to meet friends whom we may not otherwise discover due to our distance. :)

Yolanda: Ceil loves to shop at Cracker Barrel, she never talks about food just shopping so I get myself seated in one of those nice rocking chairs they have out front and wait for her to come out. You are doing great promoting your community with your 31 Day Challenge.

Ceil just walked by and she said to tell you she loves grits. She likes to put sugar, milk and cheese in them with butter and salt and pepper and just fill up the bowl. I tried them once and only once.

Hi, Carl!  LOL I see lots of men sitting out there when it's busy.  I figure with the weather getting nicer, the porch will be full.

Well, tell Ceil that my husband loves grits with lots of butter, and pepper too!  I don't want to offend, but I tried it only once myself.  LOL
