'Cinderella Man' is an excellent Film with memorable performances and scenes that you won't soon forget!.
Unfortunately, most children today don't have the 'Cinderella Man role models' to emulate. And while I personally would not recommend or wish to see any father 'climb into the ring' and subject his body to the extreme physical and mental abuses that this one man's story depicts, I commend ALL fathers and men who USE THEIR INTELLIGENCE TO UNDERSTAND RIGHT FROM WRONG, and believe in their ability to bring 'goodness' into their own being and that of their family's existence.
I took the time to watch this movie for a number of reasons, even though I would normally choose not to watch this 'type' of film because of its physically aggressive nature.
However, I did, because it took place during the time when my mother would have been about 19 years old. She and her family felt the depression of that era, but mercifully, as a result of her father's ability in business, was not affected to the degree depicted in the film.
My mother was 89 when she passed on to continue her 'career as an Angel'. She left behind her own 'legacy' of physical and spiritual strength and courage' raising her family of three girls, single-handedly through it all; 'fighting' the system of discrimination against women in the work place, discrimination by the church against 'divorced' women (The Church chose to support disfunctional marriages to men who couldn't take care of themselves, let alone their families, in preference to understanding that some men, not being of sound spirit, mind and body, 'pulled relationships and families into the gutter' if they stayed together. My mother would not buy into the idea that God would have wanted her children to suffer from her error in judgement in choosing a man who was incapable of being a good father).
AND so she fought, to keep us in the best schools and in the best environments that working 2 and 3 jobs could provide her 3 daughters ( until she collapsed at age 63 from a work related injury; at which point I took over the role of taking care of her along with my family).
My mother took on the role of mother and father, from the time I was 3 1/2 and my sisters were 6 weeks and 10 years old.. She taught us to 'fight' too. but not with our 'fists' or 'in anger' but with our God given 'intelligence' to compete in the world. She taught us to 'out think' those who would prefer that we not be as successful. To fight against the evils of jealousy, envy, and all of the 'unhealthy behaviors' that are too prevalent in our society and which too many people are accepting as 'normal' in this day and age.
My Mother was a Fighter with grace! My ONLY regret is that SHE NEVER MET HER CINDERELLA MAN. One, because she was so totally and unselfishly, singly focused on providing what she knew the three children she brought into this life, needed. Two, because of her prior experience with two unsuccessful marriages, my mother would not allow herself to believe that she would ever meet a man who would love her children enough. Someone capable of loving us and providing for our needs as unselfishly as she was devoted to. So she did what many single parents had to do, and continue to have to do, without much hope for a 'Cinderella Man' to reveal himself in their lifetime because there are too few out there to SET AN EXAMPLE NOW OR IN THE FUTURE!
That is unfortunately, because we are a society that will spend billions to 'lobby' to promote alcohol, drugs, perverted and deviant behaviors and other such 'self serving interests' including global WARS and SPACE INVASION in preference to NURTURING OUR EARTH and OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR SPIRITUAL NEEDS.
Personally, I believe that IF we ever find another planet as 'perfectly suited to life for the human body, as God had created on earth' the HUMAN CAPABILITY WILL ONLY OVERTAKE SOMEONE ELSE'S SPACE ON THAT new PLANET AND LEAVE BEHIND THE EARTH IN A PILE OF DESTRUCTION WHICH, HUMANITY AS WE KNOW IT, WILL HAVE CREATED OR ALLOWED TO EVOLVE BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH OF HUMANITY HAD THE WILL TO 'FIGHT' FOR WHAT WAS TRULY GOOD FOR THE CHILDREN OF THIS WORLD.
Bravo to 'Cinderella Man' and to Ron Howard for this excellent film that brings with it, an 'illumination of the human spirit' that many have either forgotten or have yet to recognize the importance of its existence! I for one, am grateful to an incredibly special 'Cinderella Woman' who was my mother, my guide, my rock and spiritual connection, through out her own life and beyond.
Ok, so here I am on my 'band wagon'. I hope everyone will take the time to watch this special film (not recommended for children under 12, however, due to the violently aggressive scenes).
