A Simple Note in the Mail

Among the many solicitations that appear daily in my mail box, rarely is there anything that coincides with my current thinking.

An unpretentious note today from the American Red Cross, simply branded  seemed to stand out as thoughtful, timely and practical.
It was enough for me to search the sites mentioned to familiarize myself with the activities of the American Red Cross (around the world, across the country, down the street)

Items informed me that the Utah Red Cross was involved today in assisting with possible flood evacuations in Logan UT  and with organising volunteers  to deploy to Joplin, Missouri: great examples of human beings actually being human doings.

The Red Cross suggests my possible actions (and yours too) to be:

  • take a class
  • be prepared
  • volunteer
  • donate

Larry I actually worked at the American Redcross in Washington for two years. I worked with the Hurricane Katrina and Tsunami project. Working during those times helps you always remember to be grateful for what you have. And I am thankful to God that I was able to help during a time when people needed our help. Should consider signing up this time as a Volunteer. Thanks for sharing Larry. Great post.

Scott - thanks for your observation. I'm all for action.

Lanre - I am impressed by your service. My involvement in Australia was a a Blood Donor over many years (Red Cross Blood Bank there receives donations and disperses it free of charge).
