A new tool.. just when I needed it!

Real Estate Agent with Northwood Realty

Hello all,

I just wanted you all to see this NEW and unconventional tool that me and my seller have used together

It allows my sellers to annotate the surroundings of their property by placing icons interactively on a map. (http://www.aroundpoint.com )

It's always embarrassing to not be able to tell my buyers what is around the property they are considering buying, especially when I am not familiar with that area.  Now I think this tool is taking real-estate marketing to the next level by empowering the seller and/or realtor to annotate surroundings of their own listings.

First, here is a screen-shot

In the actual map that is presented to the buyers, the icons are clickable for personalized descriptions and pictures. This is just a static picture

The potential buyers are presented with an actual map where they can click on icons. The content of those icons have been entered by my seller and myself! That is the cool part.. My seller is so excited about this because she get's to annotate the surroundings of her home as she knows best!

Of course, to enter content for your listing you will have to register and login (FREE) at aroundpoint.com. And the next time, it remembers the points you entered so that you don't have to re-enter them each time.

My potential buyers can see my listings' surroundings from anywhere (without logging into aroundpoint):

Here is a link to Realtor.com of one of my listings where if the buyer clicks on the Red Spinning house, he will get to see the interactive map.

And here's a link to my company's website where if the buyer clicks on the colorful icon called "Neighborhood Tour" he will get to the interactive map.

Or the buyer can click this link below to get to the map directly (I've emailed this to several potential buyers individually)

I think it's a really cool tool for all of us realtors to use so I thought, I would share it with all of you!

This is a great concept.  It allows the seller to locate all of the great resources that the home offers.  The sellers know the area the best, so who better to point out the best nearby locations.  Thanks for sharing.

That is a cool tool, I think the website could be a little more professional/polished but I like the concept and will look into a little more when I get free time.  Thanks.

Shalini, very nicely done. Another great mashup. This is something I can implement a little easier than trying to create something.

I like it, but I wouldn't attach it as a virtual tour. The public expects an actual virtual tour when they click the spinning red house. I would (and I will) find another way to use it.

However, I now see that they want $40 per year per listing. $40/year is kind of ridiculous for this service. $40 will buy you an entire property website these days.

Hello all,

I'm glad you could use this service. And thanks for the positive feedback.

Marc, although in all fairness, I must say that for the ease and convenience of being able to mark up your own home's suroundings, I think $40/year is fair. After all, I am using this instead of a Virtual tour (which costs more!) and the best is that my seller is in contol.. that makes her happy.. and that makes me happy!

But I do agree that it should not be linked to the red spinning house on Realtor. The buyers expect that to be a tradional virtual tour.

It will be interesting to see how you all are using this service. Any thoughts?

Shalini, this looks like a great tool to use at an Open House, especially if you are not to familiar with the area.

I think that $40 per listing is too high of a price to pay when you consider what you can get from someone like real estate shows. com.  You can have as many shows as you can use for $125/year.
