Oh, how I love his writing.... Would never have bought the book by the title... no appeal there... just just like his raw, incredibly insightful writing, Mr. Burke is able to put you into the most depraved minds with such artistic talent and wonderful prose that you are unable to put down his books... This, to me, was sort of like an insider's view of what happened - as it happened - during the awful Hurricane Katrina storm of 2005.... how the government mismanaged, failed the people there, the looting by both law and public, and how the local residents had to cope - if it was called that... Dave Robicheaux, Iberia Parish Sheriff's Detective gets embroiled in murder, blood diamonds, a sadistic killer, and he and his friend and investigator, Clete work together to solve the crimes..
GREAT reading, great writing... a must read.. It was published in 2007
