Good afternoon. We're back to our rainy weather up here. Oh well!
I just experienced a wonderful moment this morning by being a judge for senior presentations at Sartori Education Center in Renton, WA. I feel like I paid it forward and would do this again in a heartbeat!
Sartori School is where the kids who couldn't cut it at high school go. It's their last gasp to get a high school diploma. And sometimes it takes them longer than the age of 18 to graduate.
This morning the kids shared with us their lives and their goals. I felt good just being there. Everyone we heard from had a story and most of the time it was filled with bumps in the road. Whether it was a mom or dad they barely knew or getting involved with the wrong crowd, these kids ended up at the alternative school and made it through.
What impressed me most was how poised and prepared they were. Everyone passed according to me. One of the young girls did a flawless job. We were told she was incredibly nervous but we couldn't even tell. At the end, the young lady cried, probably because she was so overjoyed by almost being done.
I don't know about you but I love to hear heartwarming stories. I'm not always able to be a part of them but my heart goes out to those who are less fortunate nonetheless. Today is a good day. I feel rejuvenated and it reminds me that I should always be looking for ways to pay it forward!
Have a great day!
