It was thrilling to audition for a play I have been very interested in. I saw the movie with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor and was mesmerized by the tumultuous relationship between the husband and wife. I brought my head shot - an 8x10 photo of my head and shoulders, an actor's staple and resume. I waited as actors were called in one by one to present their monologue and act out a scene. Finally it was my turn. I wasn't nervous - I've auditioned too many times before. But what made it interesting this time, is the director,
Whit Wales and the lead, Frank Bartucca
are both actors I worked with in "My Friend, Miss Flint" It was a mini reunion and the pressure was off. Then I did my monologue and the pressure was back on. The monologue was good. I recited my characters speech in a play I am in now: Hotel on Marvin Gardens. It will be performed in Charlton in the mid two weeks in June.
I ran the scene with Frank and Whit asked me to change how I presented the character and do it again. It was very interesting to modify and recreate the character. As I finished my second run, Whit, the director complemented me on taking directions. "yey". Now we sit back and wait, will he call, won't he call.
Since I enjoy acting and find that Martha is my dream role, I'm ready to make this my 365 things to do in Worcester County - Audition for "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf" in Whitinsville
