Great advice. I see so many web companies think that interlinking thier sites while on the same server will help the backlinks- it's actually quite sad.  They are still living back in 1998, when that was totally cool. Nothing worse than being in technology and beging outdated.  Plea to all web companies- keep your skill set and knowledge sharp!

Cross linking on the same IP can cause some issue. Take a look at what Yahoo did to Advanced Access, part 1 and 2.
