A little bit about sports

Here we are in what I like to affectionately call, "the most exciting time of the year." It's a sports lovers dream come true every year at this time. We're in the middle of exciting pennant races, fantasy football drafts, college football is starting soon, and if you're a fan of the Friday night lights, I think they start this Friday.

For all of you who know me, you know that I am a massive baseball fan, and have been quoted saying, "No other sport starts until baseball is over." And this year especially it looks as though the fall classic is going to go down into the history books. Can anyone out there say Red Sox vs. Cubs in the World Series? The Yankees are making a historic run for a spot in the playoffs but the Mariners are fighting them off even with the toughest schedule left. The Phllies are creeping up on the Mets, the defending champion Cardinals are doing there best to get back in the playoffs again this year, which was all they needed last year, and the NL West is as good a race as it has ever been. My heart is all a flutter just thinking about the next few weeks.

Then there's football, with the Colts attempting to defend there title with a completely different looking team. Last years surprise Saints look good, but they have that Chicago defense to worry about. The Patriots put together a great wide receiving crew, but will Asante Samuels come back to play or will they be missing a very key part of their defense when the first game comes around? Who is the best team in the NFC? People around here say the Redskins are going all the way, but they have one of the toughest devisions out there, and depending on where you are from decides how much faith you have in Tony Romo. I know they are all counting on McNabb to get injured again, successfully destroying the city of Philadelphia's chances of ever getting another championship.

Then in college football, you have Florida looking to repeat, but Ohio St is upset about the dual hit they took and are looking for revenge. Then again, Pete Carrol and USC decided to take the year off last year, which is why they lost to UCLA, and their team this year has been called "the best team in college football history." Steve Spurrier has been turning South Carolina's program into a respectable one, and where will Notre Dame end up without there boy Brady Quinn at the helm?

I could go on forever on these subjects. I love this time of the year. Now you know what I'm looking forward to. What about you? Who are you betting on this year? What team is going to win it all?
