The Interact Club of Seven Lakes High School raised over $20,000 to sponsor a special dog named Spartacus to travel to Sri Lanka to find land mines. The club members raised these funds through the school year and had support of the entire school body and the local community. Donations were received from the students plus several local businesses, Katy community members, and students at Dulles High School ( Fort Bend ISD) and Morton Ranch High School also part of KISD.
On May 13, 2011 Interact sponsors and Interact officers visited Global Training Academy in Somerset , Texas for the purpose of selecting the dog who has now been named Spartacus. This dog will be leaving shortly for Sri Lanka where he will help find land mines left during a civil war that ended during 2010.
I personally have to congratulate the Interact Club, Seven Lakes student body, all the inside school and community sponsors and Students from Dulles and Morton Ranch for such an outstanding effort for a very worthy cause. Good luck to Spartacus in finding all of those left over land mines. He looks like a really great dog in my opinion..
