Moving with Children Part 4
Take the time to enjoy events in your new town. Especially during the summer, there are many things going on at the town level.
Here in Cheshire, we have the Strawberry Festival coming up on the Cheshire Town Green on Saturday June 11 from 11 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Our Relay for Life is also that weekend beginning on June 10.
During the summer there is music in the park at the Cheshire Park. The local theater club puts on an all children’s production every summer that is performed “under the stars” if at all possible at the Cheshire Park one weekend during the summer.
How do you find out about these events? One good way is to check Connecticut Town Halls which may be able to lead you to your local Parks and Recreation Events. Also, there are many Connecticut Libraries that keep their patrons in the know. Watch for signs popping up around town advertising what is coming. If you have a great local paper like the Cheshire Herald, you just need to watch it for upcoming events.
Getting involved with your new town is a great way for you and your kids to meet people and become interested in what your new area has to offer while having a lot of fun!
