I got a kick in the pants -- 31 TIMES.  And it felt good.

kick in the pantsI've been a member of Active Rain since August of 2008. But I was very inactive, writing one or two blogs every other month. I realized I needed a kick start.

So when the I heard about the 31 Days of January blogging contest, I JUMPED in. I knew that was the push I needed to write consistently. I HAD to write at least one blog a day for thirty one days.

If I did that, I would be rewarded with EXTRA points above and beyond the logging in, blogging and commenting points. What a deal I couldn't pass it up.

SUCCESS. I wrote thirty-two blogs that month and it felt good.

Then came February -- eleven blogs.
March -- twelve blogs.
April --thirteen blogs.
I was slacking off again. I need another push. Another contest.

So....I wrote a blog titled Do I need another contest to kick me in the blogging pants?

Then it happened. Another contest came along 31 days of May Challenge 2011.
YIPPEE!!!   I got my kick in the pants.  Back in the saddle.

I've since written at least one blog a day and sometimes more.

I've written about my personal milestone of reaching 100,000 points. I wouldn't be there if I wasn't KICKED.
I've written about other members milestones of 100,000, 300,000, 500,000 & 1,000,000 points.
I've written about gas prices.
I've written about cabinet hardware.
I've written about a free country music festival.
I've written about a lazy dog.
I've written about mud volleyball.
I've written about poor communication.
I've written about park closings.
I've written about short sale or foreclosure.
I've written about having your camera with you.

I've written a blog a day for thirty-one days.

I've written about anything and everything.

I'm all over the place. But I was writing something.

It felt good to write. I'll keep it going. Maybe not one a day, every day, but I WILL keep it going.

I got a kick in the pants -- 31 TIMES.  And it felt good

Kristine, thank you for the kind words and the encouragement along the way. I've enjoyed reading your blogs with exquisite photos. You aren't afraid to show your true self. "I staged myself" comes to mind. TOO FUNNY.

Brian, it's like going to school and actually enjoying it. So much can be learned here from Active Rain members for FREE. Thank you for commenting as well.

Ben, blogs don't always have to be about real estate. Just look at my list above. Write about local neighborhoods, events, businesses, parks and schools. Write about you good/bad day or deals. Just write.

Tom, we crossed the finish line. TA DA.    100,000 came BECAUSE I was blogging daily in the contest.

Craig~ I took the challenge, and I still have today's post to go--but I will get to the finish line. Congratulations on responding to those kicks, instead of running away.

I need another kick, so I'm keeping my eyes open for another opportunity.

Roger, I'll take a kick any day too.  The challenge has been a good thing. Thank you for following this journey.

Fernando, 31 days in a row wasn't easy. Yet I see other members that consistently post one a day AND more for months. It's encouraging.

Barbara, WE DID IT.... You are my hero. You don't need no stinkin' challenge. You're a blogging machine posting one a day+ on a regular basis. GOOD JOB.

Virginia, I enjoy reading your local posts. Keep up the good work.

Margie, create your own personal challenge to write something daily. You can do it....

Liz, sometimes we all need just a little push. Glad you made it to the finish line. There. That wasn't so bad, was it?

Clint,  LOL...     My butt hurts already. More from sitting and writing than the kicks. I've watched you grow along the way. Glad you made it across the finish line too.
