Design an Ideal Outdoor Living Space for Your Glenview Home

Spring in Glenview may have gotten off to a slow start, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't start creating an ideal outdoor living space now. The porch, patio or deck of your Glenview home is a wonderful place to enjoy the sun's rays and enjoy those beautiful flowers that are starting to bloom.

Begin by tailoring your outdoor space to make it more functional for your lifestyle. Decide on what type of upholstery you'd like, what accessories would be functional and fun, what colors would accent your home, and what feeling you want to convey in the décor of your outdoor space.

Glenview Outdoor Living SpaceWhen you create on outdoor area, make sure that it's in a conversational grouping with an outdoor sofa and chairs for everyone to enjoy each other's company. This type of grouping always has the seating facing each other to encourage easy conversation. Try to have at least one chair or sofa facing the house. When you are looking from the inside, your outdoor space will invite you, friends and family to all come out, enjoy and relax.

In choosing your outdoor furniture, make sure it's as comfortable as possible and the material is appropriate for the elements it will be exposed to. If it is completely open to the Glenview elements, look to materials that can withstand our weather. However, if it's a partial or fully enclosed porch, you can be more lenient in your upholstery choices.

Making sure that you have adequate side tables is important to ensure that every seat includes a place to set a drink. Adding extra throw pillows, a light throw blanket, or even fabric placemats will visually soften the space.

Consider adding a rug to the seating area to delineate the space and create more intimacy. Before you buy your rug, be sure to pick a material that is pleasing to bare feet.

Lastly, don't forget the accessories to add that personal touch. Plants and potted floral will add color and life to your space. You can also add hanging birdcages and garden statuaries to give creativity and encourage conversation. Candles and lanterns are a nice touch to have for when the sun goes down. Sitting outdoors by candlelight really makes the evening feel special.

Plan now; in no time at all you will be enjoying that outdoor space from your morning coffee all the way to that evening nightcap.

If you are looking to sell your Glenview home this summer, The Marla Schneider Team can tell you what your house is worth and help you market your home to get it sold quickly and for top dollar.
