The American Flag And How To Care For It This Memorial Weekend
I happened to be thinking about this Memorial weekend and all the flags that will be displayed particularly on homes or flag poles in our front yards and while I've displayed the American at homes for many years, it occurred to me that many first time home buyers may not have a clue how to properly display or care for the American Flag. Go to the sight below for more detailed information about caring for the American Flag.

Memorial Day once known as Decoration Day is a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives in service to our Country. This Memorial weekend will be filled with family picnics, parades, remembering those who paid with their lives so that the rest of us can enjoy our freedoms. There will also be American flags flown, attached to buildings, carried on staffs in parades and in front yards of homes.
As a child I was taught respect for our flag, how to handle, care for and display it. It's always been a thorn in my side to see the way some individuals treat our flag. Some, perhaps out of a lack of respect, many more I suspect lacking knowledge of proper flag etiquette.

Now I'm sure many people don't think about flag etiquette and feel displaying it is all there that's necessary to be patriotic, but there is more we should all be aware of. A few of the common mistakes when handling or displaying the American flag that I routinely see are: flags left out of doors over night not illuminated, flags left out in bad weather, also flags flown badly in need of repair. I also see flags that are allowed to touch the ground or disposed of in an improper manner.
Check out this website for proper flag etiquette: USA-FLAG ETIQUETTE Let's show a little respect, and pride in our country, flag, ourselves and thoes who died defending our freedoms...our way of life.
Have a great Memorial weekend.
