First day excitement!

By
Real Estate Agent with Halo Group Realty LLC

BasketballToday is my first official day as a member of Halo Group Realty and I as I get ready to begin working towards the day's goals, I can't help but reflect on other first days of excitement.

Every year as a child, I would always anticipate the first day of basketball practice like no other.  I couldn't wait to hit the court and start raining in three point baskets.  My excitement always boiled over at the thoughts of hitting that game winning jumper with no time left on the clock.  I seriously cannot even begin to count the number of imaginary scenarios I played out where "Jason Howard has the ball with 2 seconds to go, he fakes right, goes left, pulls up, shot's up, and it's in!!!!!"  Then the first day would come and I would show up beaming with excitement, just to get told to get to the baseline for thirty mintues of windsprints.  What?  I thought we were making game winning shots here and playing a game.  The reality was that it takes months, if not years of hard work and determination to be in the position to make that game winning shot.

Another first day of excitement was when I was on the plane to my first day of Marine Corps Boot Camp.  Up to that point, all I had seen were videos of Marines in their dress blue uniforms and listened as the recruiter told me tales of far off lands.  Being 18 at the time, he sold me on tropical climates, being in the best shape of my life, and developing bonds that would last for life.  As I sat on that plane, I could hardly contain myself thinking about the great life I would live in California while going through boot camp.  After landing in San Diego and seeing the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, I could not stop talking to the guys next to me as we rode the bus the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.  As the bus pulled to a stop, I seriously was dying to get inside and see what I thought was going to be my new room.  Before I knew it, there was a drill instuctor on the bus yelling as loud as he could, forcing us off the bus and onto the infamous yellow footprints.  At that point, it started to set in that it was going to take months of hard work and determination in order to make it to the far off lands and live the glorified life of a Marine.

I can relate countless scenarios where a high level of excitement gave way to the realization that it takes a lot of hard work, determination, and patience to be successful at what you are trying to do.  Every time I go out golfing I cannot wait to hit that first shot.  Then as I am off digging through the woods tryng to find my ball, I can't help but think maybe I should hit the driving range for a few more months.  Joining Halo Group Realty is going to be no different.  While I am excited at the adventure ahead, I proceed with the knowledge of the hard work and determination it will take to get me where I want to go.  While it is easy to dream of being the listing agent on million dollar homes or putting together a multi-home investment portfolio for an investor, I understand I am going to have to pay my dues of countless hours researching, calling, and learning about not only my market, but the industry itself.  To this daunting task I say this:

I cannot wait!!
