Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands in Boynton Beach and all of our friends there need your help!!
Since last year we've seen shortened hours for the Nature Center. No longer open on Sundays, when most families would like to visit the Center... it will now be closed Sunday, Monday and Saturday! This may be just until Labor Day but why not keep it open on the weekends and closed during the week?!
The blame goes to our struggling economy and past county spending (not going to go there with this post.. don't get me started on waste!)
Green Cay offers so much for so many different groups: teachers can bring their students to the Nature Center to learn and experience Florida wildlife just minutes away from their homes; photographers are here 7 days a week to document the birds, alligators, sunsets and sunrises; retirees love this safe place to walk, meet friends and enjoy the outdoors; and visitors can come here to learn about our eco-system and see what every visitor to Florida comes to see: the alligator.
How can you help?
1. Become a Friend of Green Cay A family can join for as little as $35 a year. There are also corporate memberships available.
2. Volunteer at the Nature Center.
3. Adopt an animal - no you won't have to take home an alligator... the money does go to help care for animals in the exhibit gallery.
4. Write or call and give your support to County Commissioner Burt Aaronson who represents the area including Green Cay.
