Beaver Lodges In Central Pennsylvania
On a back woods road somewhere north west of State College PA we happened upon a few beaver lodges. Beaver are nocturnal so we did not see any activity in the water around their home.
Beaver are creatures that transform their surroundings by building a dam, which creates a pond, and they build their den or lodge in the center of the pond.
The pond serves as a means to transport food and a place for protection since they are quicker in water than on land. Interesting how beaver transform the land to suit their needs, much like we humans do.
