Homes for rent in Plano, Texas and their availability is a popular question I get asked and every time I immediately answer yes without even looking. I'm not psychic or anything, but I do happen to spend a small amount of time each week looking through the available homes that come available. For example, this morning there are 103 available homes for rent in Plano and in the last thirty days their have been 90 homes that have rented. At that rate, Plano would run out of rental homes in about 40 days.
This is good information to know because it can really affect how you look for your next home. If you are planning to rent and are thinking of moving to Plano, what is available today probably will not be there 60 days from now. I am an advocate of starting your home search very early, but you want to wait to start visiting homes and getting attached until you are probably within 45 days of moving or being able to sign a lease for the home. Time and time again I hear stories of people finding and loving the home they want to move into only to find out it was rented a week later.
My advise is this: Have your Realtor start sending you homes to view about 90 days out so you have an idea of what is available and what price homes are renting for. As you get to about 60 days you really want to start narrowing your focus to the neighborhoods, school districts, and prices you are looking for. As you get 30 days out, this is the time to start visiting homes. Ideally you do not want to visit homes until you are in a position to sign a lease as it is not uncommon for homes to be rented within the first few days coming on the market.
