I have a client that is moving from Canada to the Boise area that would like to buy a house here for his family. I am hitting road blocks even though he is with the same company (Costco) since his retirement funds are restricted to transfer for 24 months after the move and he doesn't have a US Social Security Number yet, so he won't have any credit rating in the US.
It seams weird that I have been able to sell homes to people from Bosnia and Iraq after very little time in the US and yet I am struggling with a stable employee with good credit in his country which speaks our language and is on the same continent.
Has anyone dealt with these issues that might be able to offer some advice? They tell me that the same three credit bureau's exist in Canada, so I would think they should be able to report the credit after some sort of conversion. I guess I will have to contact them directly since lenders I have talked to here in Boise, Idaho haven't figured out how to do it.
