The San Diego County Fair 2011 Begins June 10 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar CA

It's hard to believe, but the much beloved San Diego County Fair 2011 starts in just 12 day, beginning June 10th and running through Monday July 4th.

This 22-day extravaganza (open daily except Mondays, excluding July 4th) is sure to bring in the crowds, at it always does, at the fair as well as on the neighboring roads and freeway.

Tickets are $13 for a one-day admission for adults, or buy their super pass ticket for $22, which gets you 22 days of admission - that's a heckuva deal if you plan to go more than once.

The San Diego County Fair 2011 will offer something for everyone, with tons of activities, things to see and do, and food - competitive events, atrractions (animals, produce), concerts (including the Solid Gold series - performers, and music, popular in the 1960s and 1970s), games, rides, and more food than you can imagine, and probably some you don't want to.

The San Diego County Fair 2011 will be held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, CA, off Via de la Valle from the freeway or the Coast Road/Route 101.

Jeff it has been a long time since I have been to a fair.  I was never much for the scary rides, the Merry-Go-Round and hitting all the food stands was more my speed :)

Maybe I will try to make it the Durham Fair this Fall.

Hi Jeff, I have been writing an events post for June and this is one of the biggys entries. Interestingly, I used to love the fair. It represnted a get away from other things in life. But is has become so much of the same thing every year. Instead of focusing on rides and midway, I am going to focus on some animal photography this year.

Here is last years winner of my "Butt Ugly" contest. And believe me, his mother contributed heartily to this poor guys face. When I mentioned it to someone standing near by, their response was, " what difference would being ugly make to a pig. They all end up in the same place anyway".

A face only a mother could love

LOL.....love the pig!  A face only a mother could love??????  Jeff, I love county fairs, even though I don't go on all the rides anymore, it's my chance to "pig-out" on all that "county fair fried food" they shove in front of you up and down every row.

George - you gotta do what you enjoy, not what others THINK you should. I'd make it happen.

William - that photo is priceless. Only a face a mother pig could love.

Jean - ha ha. Well I have to admit I will NOT eat that stuff. There was a time but somehow now it just, well, is more than I can bear. I am not a big ride fan, but I always enjoy the animal displays. Not sure I will make it due to other things going on and more personal travel. But it's fun to think about.

Kathy - yeah, the people may be the BEST part.
