What to do on a rainy Memorial Day weekend?

What to do on a rainy Memorial Day weekend?

That was on my mind yesterday as I looked out the window at the pouring rain. What can the family do today together and make it fun? We all decided to play some games at the coffee table in the living room. We made a nice fire in the fireplace, moved around the furniture, gathered up some snacks (I have to have Peanut M & Ms) and we all sat down to a very enjoyable time of playing Life and then Risk. We took a break for dinner, I ventured out to the grill and made hamburgers, very thankful for our covered patio. We then continued until our game of Risk was finished and sat around talking about how much fun we all had.

Sometimes all it takes is just some simple planning to make the day one of the most enjoyable we have had in a long time. And it didn't cost any extra money at all. My family will be talking about our "Rainy Day" of fun for a long time!

As a one year empty nest veteran I will tell you to enjoy every day with your family!

You will look back to these days make sure it is not with regret.  To hear your son tell a stranger he has a great Dad is worth all the money in the world!

In the days before TV, Video games, internet and such, this is what families did and it brought them closer together.  Of course, that was before my time but I did hear stories about it.

It is great to show young people that you do not have to "go somewhere" or spend a lot of money to have a good time.  Have a great holiday weekend!
