365 things to do in Worcester County - come home with the "gold" from Springfield Dance competition. For those of you who have been faithfully following my blog, you know that Memorial Day Week end is my big competition in Springfield, MA. Today I competed in Waltz, Tango, and Cha-Cha with my partner, Fred. It was a long day as I woke up at 5:30 and did my hair and make up and got to the Springfield Sheraton at 7:00 am.
I got my dress on and started practicing our three dances practically till our fist Heat - dance at 8:37 AM. I did not get nervous until the first dance was done and by the begining of Tango, my heart fealt like it was going to wrip out of my chest. But I survived the competition and stayed on to watch fellow dancers from my school compete in their categories.
In the afternoon, I had an opportunity to attend special classes taught by world champions. It was interesting because much of what was taught was what I would consider foundation of dance, not advanced figures I expected. I came away with more knowledge of how the competition is run as well as simple instruction that will make me a better dancer. I'm really happy to have had an opportunity to make this one of my 365 things to do in Worcester County - come home with the "gold" from Springfield Dance competition
