On the local TV this morn. I saw a young Eagle Scout working on a project to encourage everyone to have an
'emergency contact' entered in their cell phone in a way that is consistent for police, rescue personnel to access.
It is so simple: enter the word "ICE" immediately before the name of the person you want to by your emergency contact . I quickly grabbed my husband's cell phone and made the entry, then mine. I'm e-mailing everyone I have in my list and suggesting that they spread this information. I hope it will catch on nationwide, worldwide.
We are so fortunate to have the fire and rescue teams and state and local police that risk their lives for us all the times. We expect so much from them and this simple idea that appears to have originated in England and now spread to this local Eagle Scout could save so much time in searching for loved ones.
Isn't it amazing that often the simple ideas are the ones that aren't thought of ....how often I've thought, 'now why hadn't I been doing that'....well, now I'm doing this. Hope you will help spread the word around. I am certain that we will be hearing more about this idea....let's all share the positive, great information and at the same time we may be assisting in saving lives.
I'm going to draft a letter to my clients with this information....just another way of keeping in touch with them.
