Memorial Day is indeed a touching holiday. This is the day we honor our fallen soldiers for giving us our freedom. We can go to our picnics, we can have our neighborhood barbecues because these soldiers gave their lives for OUR freedom!
As a Veteran, as a patriot, I am grateful to be living in THIS country, and I hold FREEDOM to be one of my highest values.
Thank You to the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day 2011. We who are alive and enjoying the benefits of living in this great country this Memorial Day in 2011, all 308,745,538 folks living and breathing here in the United States, need to be thankful to those that gave up everything so we can live here free and proud. That's what Memorial Day is for.
There are many things that I am thankful for in my life this Memorial Day 2011. Each holiday that focuses on being thankful, whether it's to our honored deceased service personnel on Memorial Day, thankful that we are free on Independence Day, thankful for the achievement of the American workers on Labor Day, Thankful that there were adventuresome souls that would set out across the ocean on Columbus Day, thankful for all good things on Thanksgiving Day, and thankful for my Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, is a great time to stop and look around... see all the good things in our lives.
And even though we have various holidays that encourage us to be thankful in many ways... without our freedom and our own soil to walk around on... without those that serve for the United States government's armed forces, we would not have the other holidays at all. Today is the day to honor those... today on Memorial Day 2011.
I encourage you to look around today.. If you look, you will find ample reason to be thankful today.. thankful to our armed forces that serve and especially to those that have died in that service. Then take your family or friends and go do some something totally fun because you can.. you can because of our freedom.
