Title Wizard

By
Title Insurance with myClosingSPACE
I am sure many Active Rainers have heard about this but I wanted to bring it up in case others have not. The CLTA is offering a new tool on their website called Title Wizard, which allows consumers to compare title insurance providers. It will allow them to see what each company charges and pick their own title insurance provider based on that comparison. Now, I know that there are quite a few private comparison sites out there and I believe they offer a great service but they don't have the same PR and clout that the CLTA or the California Dept of Insurance does to spread the word. I think it is a good thing and wrote a bit more at my blog. I like that the state is taking an active role in educating consumers and spreading the word that they can shop for title insurance.

In Pennsylvania its mandated by the state, so all title insurance comes off a rate card. Pretty easy.

Correct and quite a few states are the same. The premium is state regulated BUT the other fees and charges related to title and closing are not regulated and can vary greatly from company to company. Many companies also tack on junk fees and overcharge for a variety of legitimate fees.
