Mike-Calendar Index -- Triple Dip Is Indicated

By

The numbers are in and have been analyzed and verified.  We are about to enter a triple dip for 2011.  After starting the year with a strong January, we dropped 9.68% upon entering the dreaded February. Groundhog Day, Valentines Day, Washington's Birthday, and lots of snow were not enough to alter the fate of 2011.  February was down 9.68% from January.  Yes, February had only 28 days compared to January's 31.

A strong March with a 10.71% gain on February and its 31 days looked like the recovery was at hand.  But, April arrived and the unquestionable evidence of a double dip was upon us.  February's 9.68% drop in number of days was less severe than the previous drop, but nonetheless a definite sign of a relapse.  Although May brought a false sense of hope to many, especially the Chief Calendarist of the National Association of Calendar Watchers (NACW).

Larry the calendar guy optimistically predicted that there would be 40 days in June and that the real problem was poor perception brought on by the downturn in housing and the subsequent cutback in the number of calendars distributed by real estate agents.  "Nobody knows what day it is anymore," said the Chief Calendarist.  Real estate agents defended their alleged role in the downturn by pointing out that banks also normally distribute calendars, and many of them are also out of business.   In spite of the Chief Calendarist's convincing and optimistic prediction, CEALANTORS(r) remained divided as to whether his prediction of the turnaround was completely accurate. One unidentified CAELANTOR(r) voiced his skepticism.  "He has been predicting a 40 day month every month for the last five years," was his comment.

Given the current trends and a thorough analysis of all available data, current and historical, the Mike-Calendar Index has released its findings on the fate of June.  All indications point to a triple dip for 2011, and another 9.68% drop in the size of June, month to month. Yes, we can't escape the harsh reality that we are about to enter a triple dip.  If only Pope Gregory XII were still around...
