Nantucket Restaurant Scene, Summer 2011

In this second Nantucket Restaurant Scene write up, we go off the path of giving the overviews of just the newest and hottest spots on the island. After just one write up, I had to write about one of the best places on Nantucket, it just is too specail not to be written about .This is a testament to how hard it is to break the old habits and loves of the past. Last week, during the wine festival, trying to step off that merry-go-round for a night, I found myself drawn to one of my old favorites “The Le Languedoc”. It is located right down the street from my office at Jordan Real Estate.

In the real world, we are always looking for new and different, but in this case no. It was great to find everything as it was last year and the twenty some odd years before. Alan Cunha, one of the owners of this great institution, was at the door to greet and meet with his usual witty self. A warm and welcoming staff was ready to assist in any way they could.

We have always preferred the club feel of the downstairs café and tonight, somehow Alan managed to squeeze us in.

We sat at the bar along with the many different folks, who are always a healthy mix of locals and off islanders, making for a great conversation and developing a warm feeling all over. But of course helping with that warm feeling is the bartender; in this case, it was the non-stoppable Jimmy. Colorful and artful in his pursuit to please, it is just plain fun to be part of the scene there.  Oh but there is more. The best hamburgers in the world, never mind the island of Nantucket.  A great café menu is waiting for you downstairs of the Languedoc. The pricing is more than fair plus the food is great. The two things that are a must are the Hamburger… served on a Thomas English muffin …oh my. Oh and don’t leave without trying the beet salad, I have never found one the can even be compared.

This Nantucket Restaurant Scene is a must do for anyone who want s to feel really special in avery special place…they are the best. And my hat is off to the great folks and family of “The Duck” for providing one of the islands best places to cut away from the entire scene and just relax.

David, we should be back there toward the end of July.  The Club Car is always the final stop of every night on the trip.  Looking forward to more of your insight.

The Club Car is one of our favorties as well! Please come by the office when you are in town.
