ActiveRain has a new senior developer on the job! His name is Chris Paredes and he's doing a terrific job in some unusual and often stressful circumstances. Chris came on the job as some shifting and shuffling was going with the ActiveRain lead staffing. His responsibilities quickly became magnified as the previous technical lead, Jorgen, had decided to move on. Chris has stepped up and is doing a great job! As Niki has oft mentioned, their focus right now is on system stability and Chris is working tirelessly behind the scenes for all of us in this regard!
I had the priviledge today to meet Chris in person along with his wife Amanda as they are spending a few vacation days in NYC. Chris gave me a shout out that it would be great if we could meet and so we made it happen!
Today at lunchtime we met up and had a terrific techie chat and I really got to know Chris and Amanda well AND the time just flew by way to fast! We talked about coding and systems, and databases, interfaces, and ruby on rails, and all sorts of ideas I have on my ActiveRain wishlist (which he now has a copy of in his possession hehe :). Amanda is in the Photography business and just finised a weekend wedding shoot in Connecticut. Photography as you know is on my favs list too, so we were quick friends!
They are a great couple and it was a great lunchtime that I enjoyed immensely.
Do me a favor and head over to Chris' AR blog and welcome him and encourage him. He already knows what a great community this is, but mostly what he does behind the scenes would go unnoticed by us all, so let's keep him happy and welcomed here!
I'm trying to convince him to blog more! I know how busy he is but even short posts are great so you all can meet him too. Hopefully we'll see more of his posts soon. The photo below we took today in front of the landmark Flatiron Building here in NYC
Chris... I'm looking forward to our follow-up chats soon. When you have something beta to test... you know who you can email for feedback! :)
PS - check out my recent collage post if you missed it, you'll see Chris and others from the AR staff along with many of you on it!
