Goodbye To The Blogging Challenge
WOW. Is one of the words that I can say out loud about this blogging challenge. I dared myself to do it, since writing was not my favorite subject back in the college days, or any day for that matter. It's an exercise that I probably won't impose on myself again any time soon... unless there's 3,000 points (or more) involved. LOL
Well, how does it feel? Relieved and apprehensive at the same time. Relieved that I won't have to meet a daily writing deadline. Apprehensive that I'll fall back into not blogging consistently again, because there's no deadline. If there's a deadline, one makes more effort to complete the task.
What did I learn from this challenge you ask? It takes commitment and consistency to be good at blogging. I did it for the whole month, every day! I also learned not to over think what to post about. There were times I was only minutes away from missing the day's post because I couldn't make up my mind if I should go local or general. We're not competing for the Pulitzer Prize, so like the catchy ad, just post it! Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
I found that I like blogging the local places and events happening in my wonderful city, O'Fallon, Illinois and surrounding areas in Southwestern Illinois. It's good for exposure and the Google juice!
Finally, you need the moral support too, from family and friends, old and new, on ActiveRain. However, only I can make it happen... commitment flows out, nobody else can commit me... unless it's to a mental institution.
Was it worth it? Without a doubt... just the Happy Dance alone makes saying goodbye to the 31 Days of May Challenge... so sweet!
