Now, a very important step! Turn off the power at the breaker box. Remove the old light fixture observing how it was wired in. Now install the bracket used for mounting the new fixture. You can use the screws from the old one for the new one unless the new fixture came with its own.Connect the wires with their coordinated counterparts in the ceiling. White with white, black with black and bare copper with bare copper if the wires are in those colors, and secure each matching wire set with a wire nut.
Screw the fixture into place using the long screws. Mount the fixture according to the specific directions that came with it. Some are a bit different, so use the instructions that are appropriate for your fixture. Secure the fixture but not too tight. Replace the bulb, turn on the power, and turn on the new light.
