Downsizing

Today was an very interesting day! Started with a good protein shake then I prepared a couple of evaluations and then I attended a Seniors Expo at the Amica Bearbrook Retirement Home in Blackburn Hamlet. There were several speakers, the commonl topic was how to downsize; how to stay longer in your home; how to move to your next Chapter.

There was Pierrette Raymond who spoke about helping you get organized; deciding on what to keep; give away, sell or just dispose. These decisions are not always easy to make and Pierrette is there to help you;

There was Kim Reynolds that can help you sort all your pictures, certificates and help you make memory books which you can give to your family members and/or friends. An easy process once Kim shows you or she can do it for you;

Debbie is a lady that help you stay in your home - no medical assistance - but drive you to the doctor; help you with shopping; social events i.e. movies, family events; getting your groceries and much, much more.

There was Janet Grey to help you with your financial investments. A wise lady.

Then, there was me. Downsizing is a natural sequence in our lives, we usually start by purchasing a condo apartment or townhouse, then we purchase a freehold townhouse or a small detached house and then we move to the larger home. But the day comes along when we no longer wish to look after the larger home and start looking at downsizing. Sometimes, we decide that a small bungalow will do the job; others prefer moving to a condo apartment where you can just lock the door and go away from a few weeks and/or months and other decide that a retirement home is the place to move to. Retirement homes are like a hotel with tonnes of activities available to their residents.
